Elizabeth Taylor 1932 - 2011

Though miscast as Cleopatra, Elizabeth Taylor's role is now the stuff of legends.

Elizabeth Taylor, with Robert Taylor, in IVANHOE.

Elizabeth did a test shot for QUO VADIS but the
role went to Deborah Kerr.

Elizabeth Taylor didn't merely 'test" for the role of Lygia in "Quo Vadis," she WAS cast as the female lead, opposite Gregory Peck.

The film shot for several weeks in Rome under the direction of John Huston, with Arthur Hornblow as producer, until MGM's executives, dissatisfied with Huston's approach and the script, shut down production, re-cast, ordered a new script written and handed the whole film to Sam Zimbalist and Mervyn LeRoy.
